SOMA Canary Wharf, the second iteration of the acclaimed SOMA bar concept, brings a bold new perspective to London’s financial district. Conceived by Kricket co-founders Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby, this speakeasy-style cocktail bar marries the minimalist industrial aesthetic of Cake Architecture with the vibrant spirit of Indian-inspired flavors.
At the heart of SOMA Canary Wharf lies its bespoke bar station, crafted in collaboration with Cake Architecture and engineered by Behind Bars. This striking centerpiece is a testament to innovation and craftsmanship, featuring a unique stainless-steel structure with intricate laser-etched detailing. Its precision-welded surfaces and exposed finishes reflect both technical ingenuity and artistic sensibility, creating a space that feels at once functional and sculptural.
Every design decision, from the finely etched pinstripe patterns to the seamless shadow gaps, was tailored to enhance the guest experience. The bar is not just a functional workspace but a focal point that complements the venue’s sleek interiors and elevates the act of cocktail creation.
SOMA’s bar program continues to draw inspiration from India, offering drinks that are complex, seasonal, and deeply rooted in the subcontinent’s culinary heritage. This seamless blend of design, functionality, and flavor makes SOMA Canary Wharf a venue that invites guests to linger and discover something new with every visit.
Behind Bars is proud to have contributed to this exceptional project, collaborating closely with Cake Architecture and the SOMA team to bring their ambitious vision to life.
